AEC Ltd. is strengthening capacity in the field of Arboriculture and Ecology, and has vacancies for the following 5 positions: Senior Ecologist, Senior Arborist, Plant Ecologist Arborist and Assistant Arborist. Applications are invited for these in accordance with the following requirements:

Plant Ecologist

Qualification and Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree;
  • Proven interest and knowledge in flora of Hong Kong/ South China;
  • Willing to do outdoor work throughout the year;
  • Work independently and as part of a team, carrying out and reporting botanical and habitat surveys;
  • Good written and spoken English essential;
  • Relevant work experience and driving licence preferred;
  • 5-day week offered.

Senior Ecologist

Qualification and Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree or higher;
  • At least 7 years of experience in ecological work required, preferably in consultancy;
  • Proven interest in fauna and flora of HK;
  • Experience in preparing ecological impact assessment reports;
  • Good written and spoken English;
  • HK driving licence.

Responsibilities will include project management and report-writing.

Senior Arborist

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Arboriculture, Horticulture or Forestry preferred;
  • Certified Arborist of ISA or higher academic qualification or Professional Membership of Arboricultural Association or equivalent required;
  • At least 10 year of experience in arborist work required;
  • Tree climbing qualification and experience preferred;
  • At least 5 years of experience in conducting tree risk assessment and applying mitigation measures required;
  • Computer literacy and good written and spoken English;
  • HK driving licence.


Qualification and Experience

  • Certified Arborist of ISA, higher academic qualification, Professional Membership of Arboricultural Association or equivalent required;
  • At least 5 years of experience, of which two years post-qualification;
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in English.


  • Perform tree risk assessment and tree survey work;
  • Prepare tree survey and tree assessment reports;
  • Supervise tree planting schemes and maintenance work;
  • Project Supervision and Management, including but not limited to onsite supervision on arboricultural and landscape works, and liaison with landscape consultants/contractors.

Assistant Arborist

  • Bachelor degree in relevant discipline preferred
  • Recent relevant arboricultural experience preferred
  • Fluency in Cantonese and ability to communicate effectively in English essential

Responsibilities will include Tree Inspections for public areas, development sites and in relation to planning applications. In-house training provided.


  • Form 5 or above
  • 1 year experience in desktop mapping/drawing
  • Good at using one or more of ArcView/ArcGIS, AutoCAD (2D), MicroStation
  • Fair spoken and written English
  • Reliable and good team skills
  • Ready to meet tight deadlines and respond to ad hoc requirements
  • Previous habitat mapping experience preferred
  • An interest in nature or the environment preferred


  • Preparation of maps (mainly habitat maps), calculation of areas, other basic drawings and modifications to the maps as instructed;
  • Maintenance of mapping software;
  • Management of mapping files, maps and other associated files;
